The Weekend Workshop Concludes
What a whirlwind October has been, a memorable trip to Japan, an engagement to the love of my life, and right after, to step in front of a classroom to teach the other muse with a paintbrush in hand. My two-day workshop on Vancouver Island, which was kindly hosted by my friend Ian alongside his third annual Emerald Brush painting competition, was an absolute delight. We covered over the 2 days, my approach to painting with a strong presence of textures, using key and ambient lights to effect, tinting and modulating colours with broken tones to find harmony. With a wonderful 8-person class held in a private room at DropZone Games, I'd have to say it was one of my favourite classes to teach thus far in my career. Brilliant students who were all returning students, and made the class a warm, creative and positive vibe. That really helped lift my spirits due to still battling jetlag from Japan, and a bit of a cold caught due to my lack of good sleep and weakened immune system. Everyone showed great progress in the techniques and positive challenges, as we always ask a bit more of ourselves with each stroke applied.
Now I'm back home to get some quality recovery, jump back on the video editing to complete the second part of the Gregori Gula with its insanely horrific backside, and some more gems which are just around the corner for all my paid members ;) Again, it's wonderful to be back and itching to sit down at the painting desk soon enough. I've missed it!
All the best, Happy Painting,
Bb
