Enter the Trenches!

Over the weekend, I was tossed into the trenches with my friends down at Creature Caster to paint an early copy of their new Matagot Hag miniatures being released alongside the Great Hunger Supplement from Trench Crusade. This body horror sculpt is truly horrifying and even made my stomach turn a few times while painting it. I wanted to bring an emphasis on the loose references of a fallen angel with a holy god light from above, focused on the intersecting lines of limbs and its neck. Fading down into a contrasting darkness with only a faint ambient light gathering closely to the unexploded ordnance at its feet. Then, to grab a stark contrast on the other side, with a truly horrific open cavity of the daemon. Maximizing saturation and intensity with reds and purples, showing off the rows of teeth, protruding skeleton and its female reproductive organs.
As for the process, this nasty one will serve well with its own video tutorial alongside the upcoming Kickstarter going live on October 2nd through Creature Caster. Think of this as a special Skin Challenge Horror edition! I will be sharing the official Kickstarter Link once it goes live.
Finally, at the start of next month (October 2nd to the 15th), I will be away on holiday in Japan! It's back to experience more of the nature side of the country, with a few hikes, onsens to relax in, great food, and a good spot to get engaged :) That's all from my Desk right now. I hope you all have a fantastic week on the brush.
Happy Painting,
Bb
