Weekend session recap
Over the weekend, I woke up at the crack of dawn to participate in Erik Swinson's free online class stream over on Twitch. We painted this exclusive bust sculpted by Joaquin Palacios and cast by Epic Tales. Goes to show that there is still so much to learn, challenges, and surprises along the way. In around just over 6 hours in the session, I was able to bring the bust to the stage shown, giving me a surprise in my workflow, and along with some helpful feedback through Erik's amazing endurance to screen through so many WIPS, help me with some corrections and ideas to keep with me moving forward.
The Space Marine next is a new Iron Hands Herald that I've started the next day, and will be a wedding gift from the bride-to-be! It's always an interesting challenge to paint a legion with a real lack of colour, but grabbing a spot colour and really leaning into the values with the right lighting can make all the difference. As for you tutorial lovers out there, I'm sorry, but this piece hasn't been under the video camera. I do have another Iron Hands tutorial on painting black power armour in the Space Marines Collection for you all to view, which was also painted for the same friend (Yes, he's a die-hard Iron Hands player!)
And finally, a new Ogre Head has been painted for the start of the new Skin Challenge Series. As to my disappointment mentioned yesterday, the footage was clipped with so many mis-shots and key strokes being blocked that I needed to shoot it again. For everyone who wants to get ahead in the Skin Challenge and wants to start with an Ogre Head, there is an excellent Necromunda Kit, Jotunn' H-Grade Industrial Servitor Ogryns, which comes with 2 Ogryns and has plenty of options to build with or without armour. Or if you have the Grand Cathay battalion box, the Orge head is taken right from there!
Alright, it's back to the brush! Happy painting :)
