Miao Ying the Storm dragon & future updates
Hey everyone, with Golden Demon finished and finally being back at home; I can comfortably share with you all the final pictures of my own Miao Ying of the Grand Cathay. This model was quite the roller coaster looming over a fast deadline in order to get her ready to enter into this years Adepticon 2026 Golden Demon. With lots of new challenges to overcome, and lessons learned through and post process which I will be sharing in the coming days. I would just like to take the time to give you the full angles of her complete, as well as give a big thank you to my painting team/fam CAN-AM for their unwavering support in its execution. Just as with all of you here on Patreon and extending through onto the Discord, leaning on a dedicated community to help you through all of paintings challenges. I myself rely on others through their own unique experiences, perspectives, and sharp eyes to help me to the finish line. The results weren't where I wanted them to be this year, but I can say that I'm still proud of what I was able to accomplish regardless, and pleased to have her in my personal collection (non commission), and in due time to lead my army when I get moments to chuck dice n have a game of Old World Warhammer!
I hope you find something in this latest piece, where it's the colour palette, themes, or simply a pleasure to see. I'm always grateful for all of your amazing support, and the motivating messages I got throughout to get it to this point.
As for a future schedule of whats to come. Later this week we have our first video of the Custodies Shield Captain which will be starting with painting the base to set the scene. With the following week by the much anticipated NMM Gold of her armour, detailing a new approach and a great addition from last years Stormcast Challenge. Then a breakdown of Miao Ying at GD, with a good talk about my Do's & Dont's of painting for the competition to help you avoid these pitfalls! As well as some tutorials based on painting her face, and if the footage is good, to give you all some sections of her robes, and to help you compose the OSL. This will be taking some editing, as painting for GD in a tight time crunch, I cant guarantee the best capturing where I have to prioritize my own painting angles rather than the delicate dance of keeping it all in frame.
AND....Finally. I will be taking a Vacation this year to both celebrate my 40th birthday which was in June last year, with a trip with my Mother to China! This is going to be our first trip to the Motherland, and also my first vacation with just my Mom. Something really special to me and an experience I'm very much looking forward to. I will be away for 17 days!
April 15th till May 2nd.
