I’m Back!
Hey everyone, after a couple of weeks spent on vacation in China and battling a cold bug & the lingering effects of Jetlag. I've been steadily getting back to my routines and of course exercising my brush hand to find my control and rhythm. The trip was really amazing, and a real joyful experience being my first vacation with just my mother and I. Travelling across china starting in Beijing, then a train to Xi'an, another flight to Guilin & Yangshuo, then a final flight to Shanghai. It was a lot of travel, eating, sights, and packed with a lot of steps each day. Covering the various cities and natural wonders across steep mountain steps, navigating the cities metro, local markets & streets, and even by bicycle (my favourite).
It's a truly beautiful country full of amazing foods which to say all tasted familiar, but with a touch of better spice and local ingredients which are harder to find here in Vancouver. The natural beauty of their mountains being nested within the city of Xi'an to the high peaks of Mt.Huashan by steep steps and gondola. Rice fields, river boats, to generous locals and bartering madness in counterfit markets! I was really happy to have taken away so many fun and memorable experiences which I look forward to fuel my creativity even further. Of course on my trip I took my Fuji XT5 and shot china through my 23mm lens in both colour and B&W. While I'm not going to dump over 3k of pictures taken, I'll leave you here with a nice little sample of what my camera saw.
Thanks again for everyone being so kind and supportive over on the Discord while I was away. Sharing works, giving feedback, and making me miss the paint brush is always a good thing while I was away! It won't be long before some new project announcements are made as I prep some miniatures, and something new which I'm getting things prepared that I'm pretty stoked to share with you all shortly!
Much love,
Bb
