Base update
Earlier this week I shared the sculpt of a new display base that was being worked on, and now we have some paint on it! This is coming along in theme to a new approach that I've wanted to take with a miniature, in which will be a Base-First approach. Meaning exactly as I say, painting the base first. I wanted to see how the idea of focusing on the scene will affect the approach to the subject. Taking the colours of the main and ambient lights, and how we can intergrade the palette to influence the subject with various materials.
This is a good time to think about how the shadows of the subject can be effected, given the ambience of the scene to match, and with more reflective elements such as NMM to contain more information of the scene as well. To break out what the subject is, unfortunately I can't share an image of who it is, but I can say it is the new Shield Captain of the Custodies! This base is meant to illustrate him leading the defences in the war of the Webway, hence the Eldar ruins who were the original creators of these paths through the universe.
I am very interested on how this project will turn out, with it's results and sharing the concluding results with you all. And in fashion, it will be a new series of tutorials based on this execution, of the Base and the Captain! Hope you all will have a wonderful day and heading in to the weekend!
